SEPA-Direct Debit Scheme

The creation of the single euro payments area SEPA following the introduction of the euro as a common currency now.

From 1st February 2014 uniform rules in Germany and Europe for credit transfers and direct debits in euros.

As of this date the SEPA direct debit replaces the previously known direct debit procedure.

The use of SEPA direct debit changes only the marking of the accounts for private clients: The international bank account number (IBAN) will be used in the future instead of the current account number and bank routing number and – where necessary – the international bank code (BIC) has to be stated.
SEPA stands for single euro payments area. All the States of the European economic area (EEA) and Switzerland and Monaco will participate in the SEPA.
